Hello, May!

I'm so glad May is finally here. April was pretty uneventful and cold and rainy for the most part, so now I'm ready for all the May flowers and sunshine. One of the perks of all the rain, is the green grass and all the leaves on the trees. 
Now it's that time of year where school is winding down and there's so much fun stuff going on. I'm really excited to see what's going to happen in May.

a few thoughts on photography

I've been getting more and more into photography more recently. I really, really love photography. I'm always trying to improve my photography by doing different angles, trying new editing techniques, etc. As of right now I only have a point and shoot, but I'm making the best of what I have.
I tend to underestimate myself when it comes to a lot of things (such as photography). I don't want to be one of those people who unrealistically think their photos are amazing when they aren't, but I also don't want to act like my photos are terrible, because they aren't. I'm still learning about photography, shutter speed, ISO, and f-stops is hard to get the hang of (at least for me).
One of my favorite photographers is Hannah Nicole; her photos are amazing! I follow quite a few photography/artsy blogs, but she is my favorite as far as photography goes.
A couple nights ago I came across some old photos I never edited, so I decided to go ahead and edit them. I've been trying out some different editing techniques, and here's what I came up with.

I can't believe it's already March..

....I really can't. It feels like January just started. I'm so glad the winter months are over and that spring is just around the corner! I'm really excited to see what spring will bring; spring always seems like a time when a lot of things change and new and exciting things happen.
Today I was originally planning on posting the rest of the pictures I took of the snow last week, but it was such a nice day out (in the 60s!) that I didn't feel like posting pictures of snow. Instead I decided to snap a few pictures when I was outside journaling (the first and last pictures were taking indoors). 
I really like journaling; I used to hate it because I felt like I had to write a certain way or say certain things, but I got over it, and I enjoy it now. So far I've written in my journal every day this year! Which is really good for me. 
Happy journaling, and have a great rest of the week! ...I really should come up with a better ending. Oh well.

A Day in the Snow

It doesn't snow very much where I live, but we got some snow yesterday, so I took the opportunity to take some pictures. I'm not crazy about snow (I don't like cold weather), but it's really interesting to photograph. I had a fun time (minus the cold, that is) capturing the uniqueness of the snow. I got some neat photos, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. 

 Fun fact: did you know that two snowflakes can actually be identical? It's very unlikely, but it is possible. 

After coming in from being outside in the cold, drinking something warm is a must.

My dog loves snow; whenever it snows he can't wait to go out.

Hello everyone!
These are some pictures I took (minus the one of me) the week before last while I was spending the
weekend with my friend Jessica. We had a blast together, and we had a lot of fun feeding and petting the horse. There were three horses in the field and it took us forever just to get one to come over! Silly horses.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to post anything last week; the week just went so fast! I've been super busy with school so I haven't had that much time to write. I should be blogging more the next couple of weeks though!
I've been working on my blog a lot recently, trying to find something I really like. What do you think of how it looks now? Hopefully sometime I can design my own template or buy a template from somewhere. Blog Milk has some super cute ones. I've also been working on redesigning Mod Style Lounge (MSL is a blog I write for). Blog designing is hard stuff! But it's also pretty fun.

Randomness

Hello everyone! I thought I'd try something a little different today and just blog about whatever and be more personal. I usually spend a lot of time writing my regular posts, but this is just a sit down and write straight through post.

I haven't had much time to do photography lately because of school and because I don't have that great of a camera. It mainly only does good close up pictures. I'm trying to not be discouraged by it though, and one of my goals for this year is to do photography more.
These are some pictures I took of my dog, Toby, the other night.(:

This is the color my nails currently are. The actual color is a little darker than it appears in the photo, but it's close. My nails don't look that great, because I'm honestly not that good at painting my nails! And yes, that's my dog in the corner.

My current favorite makeup product is the Maybelline Volum' Express the Mega Plush mascara. I got it for Christmas, and I love it! I'm going to try to do a review on it soon, so be on the lookout for it!

This is what I look like when I haven't styled my hair at all. My hair is naturally curly/wavy especially if it air dries like it did in the picture. I usually straighten my bangs and leave my hair natural for my every day look.  

My goal for this blog is to blog at least once a week (hopefully more!). If I can't do that, then at least every other week. I'm going to try to do an outfit of the day (OOTD) about once a week..that is if my camera will

cooperate. *fingers crossed*
