recently.

There’s a tree that grows in Brooklyn. Some people call it the Tree of Heaven. No matter where its seed falls, it makes a tree which struggles to reach the sky. It grows in boarded-up lots and out of neglected rubbish heaps. It grows up out of cellar gratings. It is the only tree that grows out of cement. It grows lushly . . . survives without sun, water, and seemingly without the earth. It would be considered beautiful except that there are too many of it.  – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

Life is busy with the quick coming of summer. I'm still finishing up a few subjects in school, but I'm almost done! I’ve been neglecting my blog a lot lately, and I'm sorry. I keep telling myself that I’m going to post more than once a week, but so far, I haven’t in a long time. I guess I just haven’t been in the mood to blog recently.

My summer reading list is coming along pretty well (read about my reading list here). I started The Grapes of Wrath at the end of last month, but I got bored and I started reading Little Women instead. I’ll finish The Grapes of Wrath later…maybe. It was really hard to understand; I was only on the third or fourth chapter and I was already bored. I finished Little Women, and now I’ve started A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I really enjoyed Little Women. I didn’t like the second part as much as the first, but it was still good. I love Jo, she’s my favorite (obviously!).

Last Friday, I got my permit! I’d been putting it off for a while, but I’m glad I went ahead and took the test. Now to start driving! I’m having my first driving lesson with my dad tomorrow; I’m excited!

My camera has stopped working, I’m not sure if it’s permanent or not. It was doing this before and it started working again, but so far it’s been over a week and it’s still not. Since it’s only a point and shoot, I never appreciated it much, but now that I don’t have my own camera to use, I appreciate it a lot! I only have the point and shoot of my family’s to use, so keeping up with photography might be difficult.

That's pretty much all I've been up to recently. Have a great Father's Day weekend!

Current Favorite Things // May

I know I haven't been posting very much recently, but I'm going to try doing it more often; I promise!
I decided to put together a list of things I'm currently loving. I'm going to do this every month or so, just to show you guys some of my favorite things.

I recently put out some clear Christmas lights on my dresser, and I really like how they look. I love lights!

my grandparents gave me this devotional for Christmas and I love it!

new running shoes, there's nothing like cute workout gear to get you motivated!

I got this really cool LED alarm clock that changes colors a few weeks ago; it's so fun to play with, haha.

a couple weeks ago I put up an "art line" to put up artwork and photography on, and I absolutely love it! I use painted clothes pins (which were super fun to make) to hang the artwork up.

I love having my nails painted, but I like using light colors. This is my favorite nail color, Revlon Nail Enamel.

I've been obsessed with this song, I can't get it out of my head!

I hope you enjoyed this very random post about some of my favorite things. Let me know if you want me to do more posts like this!

Hello, May!

I'm so glad May is finally here. April was pretty uneventful and cold and rainy for the most part, so now I'm ready for all the May flowers and sunshine. One of the perks of all the rain, is the green grass and all the leaves on the trees.
Now it's that time of year where school is winding down and there's so much fun stuff going on. I'm really excited to see what's going to happen in May.
