Orange

shirt: JCPenney / skirt: Forever 21 / cardigan: Target / camisole: JCPenney / sandles: Payless / purse: JCPenney /
flower ring: Charlotte Russe /

Orange is one of my favorite colors to wear; it’s bright and cheery, and it goes great with my skin tone.

When I first tried this skirt on with the shirt, I wasn't sure the orange and floral would go together, but I ended up liking the way it looked, and this is the second time I've worn this outfit. The first time I wore it, I wore a belt over the top of the cardigan to accentuate my waist. I took a picture with the cardigan so you could see what it looks like with it.

High-waisted shorts and skirts made your legs look slimmer and longer, which is great for a short person like me (I’m 5’4 if you’re wondering). If you want your legs to look even more slimming, wear high heels or wedges with this outfit. I thought about wearing wedges, but I wanted it to be more casual.

Simple is Good

shirt: given to me // jeans: Rue 21 // shoes: Payless // necklace: Forever 21 // purse: JCPenney //

This outfit is simple for the most part. I went for more dramatic makeup (hence the red lip and cat eye) instead of a fancy outfit.
I like dressing down, but sometimes I have trouble wearing simple outfits like this. I always want to dress up and wear bright colors or bold patterns. Or if I wear something like this, I want to wear a bright statement necklace. I have to remind myself that simple is ok. I usually gravitate toward more "effortless" outfits like this on Pinterest, but for some reason I have trouble actually wearing them.
So moral of the story, simple outfits are okay. You don't have to wear bright colors or loud patterns to be fashionable. A plain, button up shirt and jeans is chic.

Floral Dress and a Blazer // OOTD

dress: Hollister // blazer: JCPenney // shoes: Payless // belt: Kohls // necklaces: American Eagle and Forever 21 // purse: JCPenney //
Now that it's getting warm (finally!), I can start wearing skirts and dresses again. This dress (yes, it's a dress), is probably one of the best bargains I've ever gotten. I had liked the Hollister dresses like this all summer, but they were $50 and I didn't want to spend that much. At the end of the summer I got it on clearance for $8. That was a couple years ago, but I still like it. I like that with this dress it's super easy to put a shirt over the top and make it look like a skirt.

On a side note, if you want to make something like this more casual, wear a cardigan. I wore a blazer with this because it was a little chilly out and I thought it would be warmer.

Floral & Leopard Print // OOTD

Shirt: JCPenney // Shorts: Faded Glory // Shoes: American Eagle // Purse: JCPenney // Sunglasses: Charlotte Russe // Necklace: Avon //
I tried doing a braided headband/crown for the first time yesterday. Surprisingly, it turned out pretty good! I'm usually not very good at trying different things with my hair, but I need to start trying more.

Most people are afraid to mix prints (such as floral and leopard), but there's nothing to be afraid of. Mixing prints is all the rage now. If you're new to mixing prints, go in baby steps. You don't have to start off by wearing print on top of print (such as wearing a printed shirt and a printed skirt together). Try wearing a printed shirt, and then using a printed purse (like I did), or wearing a printed skirt and using a printed scarf. One blogger that I think is great at mixing prints is Kendi Everyday. You really should go check out her blog, it's fabulous.

Now go out there and mix some prints!

Dressing Up Casual : OOTD

Jeans: Charlotte Russe // Blazer: JCPenney // Tank: American Eagle // Shoes: Payless // Purse: Target // Necklace: Forever 21 // Watch & bracelet were gifts

I like wearing something like a blazer with an otherwise casual outfit. It dresses the outfit up slightly and keeps it from being super casual. I love my blazer, there is so many different ways you can wear it. I definitely think that a blazer is a wardrobe staple that every girl should have.

OOTD: spring is just around the corner!

shirt: JCPenney // leggings: AE // cardigan: Forever 21 // boots: Deb // purse: Target // all jewelry was given to me

Spring is almost here! It's been getting warmer here and I've been trying to wear some of my spring clothes. Since it was 60 degrees yesterday I decided to wear this new shirt I got last Saturday. It was still a little chilly, so I wore some boots and threw on a cardigan. I don't know what I would do without my boots, I wear them 75% of the time during the winter.
I really like the shirt I'm wearing; it has so many of the different trends for this season. It's high-low, sheer, has a collar, and it has a graphic/floral design. I can't wait till I can wear it with white shorts and my wedges!
I'm really looking forward to getting out all my spring and summer clothes again; I'm getting bored with my winter clothes.
